Here are some of the questions we asked Debbie

  • What sets you apart from the competition?

I’m not here to just book you a holiday. I take the time to get to get to know you, find out your     likes/dislikes, what you like to do on holiday, and your absolute No/No’s. I create an experience for you and are with you every step of the way. With our 24/7 duty office I am kept up to date should anything go wrong while you are away, and with our 100% financial guarantee, you can book knowing that your money is safe.

  • How did the business come about?

This time last year I left my prior role to look after a couple of family members who were elderly and not doing too well. My family are based in The Lakes still so I was finding it hard to balance working and looking after them. 6 months on they were doing much better and I found myself missing the travel industry. I knew I wanted to work from home and keep a balance with the family side of life, so this was the perfect option.

  • What are your main target markets?

I don’t have a main target market, I’m here for everyone and anyone looking for excellent service and value. Many are looking to book what I would call ‘celebratory’ trips, things like milestone birthdays, anniversaries and tailored trips, but I can arrange all holiday types, including within the UK.

  • How long has your business been in existence?

I have been ‘live’ with Travel Counsellors since May 2024, so relatively recently, but my knowledge and experience in the travel industry spans over many years. I was very young when I started 😊

  • How many staff do you employ?

I don’t employ any staff at the moment. I take care of all areas of the business myself. As it grows I will look to take on an assistant for the admin side of things.

  • What job or achievement makes you most proud?

Going into business after such a long time being salaried was a big step. It takes a lot to start up on your own after so many years of a payslip being delivered every month, but I knew I could do it, and I wanted to prove to myself that there was a work/life balance within the travel industry.

  • Where do you see the business being in five years?

To be a success and be the number one provider of bespoke travel in Warrington. I want to be a ‘Gold’ Travel Counsellor which means the business is in the top 10% of the group for sales.

  • Tell us one interesting thing about the business that might surprise us?

We have an ex footballer who is now a successful Travel Counsellor within the community.

  • Tell us one interesting thing about you that people might not know? (ie, hobbies, amusing fact, etc)

I hate tea & coffee – always have, always will! Despite serving it on aeroplanes for many years and being told I make a ‘good brew’

  • Fantasy dinner party – which six people alive or dead would you invite?

Richard Branson – I’d love to know more about his journey in travel

‘Nessa’ from Gavin & Stacey – love her!

Peter Dinklage – to discuss everything ‘Game of Thrones’

Whitney Houston – for the music

Peter Kay – to make us laugh

James Martin – to cook for everyone and to bring the wine!
