· Who are you?
My name's Darren Jeffries, a producer, director and actor from Warrington. I'm the founder of Ludovico, a company specialising in video production and creative education.
· What sets you apart from the competition?
We tend to compete with ourselves! We constantly challenge each other to do things differently, and we're only ever as good as our latest project.
· How did the business come about?
I worked as a freelancer in film and TV for years between acting jobs, mainly across London as well as Liverpool and Manchester. Writing, editing, directing, etc. When I returned home to Warrington I decided to put all I’d learnt into Ludovico.
· What are your main target markets?
All our work tends to have a strong social slant. We produce video for responsible brands and businesses, but also charities and community groups, plus art and cultural organisations.
· How many staff do you employ?
We have a team of six at present but growing fast!
· What job or achievement makes you most proud?
Sounds very cheesy but every finished video makes me most proud. We love being creative, and put everything we have into each and every project. We also provide creative education and opportunities for adults and young people in Warrington which is incredibly rewarding. Here is one of our latest videos about Warrington
· Where do you see the business being in five years?
As well as continuing to produce short-form media for brands and businesses, we also have a number of films and documentaries currently in development. In five years I'd like to see us regularly working with broadcasters and film/TV studios to produce Warrington based work whilst providing jobs for local writers, filmmakers and actors.
· Tell us one interesting thing about the business that might surprise us?
It's named after a scene in one of my favourite films. I'll leave any film fans who might be reading to guess which one it is!
· Tell us one interesting thing about you that people might not know? (ie, hobbies, amusing fact, etc)
I'm also a professional actor (when I can spare the time!) and tend to pop up in theatre and on TV. I've been acting professionally since I was 15 and I absolutely love it.
· Fantasy dinner party – which six people alive or dead would you invite?
David Bowie, Kendrick Lamar, John Lennon, David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick and Alfred Hitchcock.
