The council is getting ready to deliver financial support for businesses affected by the national Covid-19 lockdown.
Since the new lockdown was announced on 31 October, the council has been gearing up to make sure Warrington businesses can receive the grants and relief they are entitled to.
From Thursday 12 November, Warrington businesses – including those who have had to close, along with those who are struggling - will be able to apply for funding.
By visiting warrington.gov.uk/coronavirus, businesses can apply for financial support. The council’s benefits and exchequer service will be working through application forms to ensure funds are administered to eligible businesses as quickly as possible.
The main pots of funding available are:
• Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) – government grants of up to £3,000 per month for businesses required to close due to local lockdowns or targeted restrictions.
• Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) - funding secured by the council from the government to support closed businesses and those directly impacted by the lockdown, which will be administered on a discretionary basis.
The council’s work to administer this vital funding is part of its ongoing efforts to support businesses throughout the borough, with more than £80m in Covid relief and grants paid out to Warrington businesses since April.
Warrington Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development & Innovation, Cllr Tom Jennings, said: “We are absolutely committed to working with businesses across Warrington to help them get through these unprecedented challenges.
“I know how much uncertainty and anxiety this new lockdown will be causing for our businesses, many of whom are already struggling due to impact of the first lockdown. I would like to reassure our business community that we will be doing everything we can to support you.
“This funding will be a hugely important lifeline for many of our businesses, and we will be working tirelessly to ensure that every single penny reaches those eligible as quickly as possible.”
Applications for LRSG and ARG funding are now open. To apply, visit warrington.gov.uk/coronavirus
