Warrington Youth Club are hosting a Captain Tom 100 fundraising challenge, to celebrate the life and legacy of Captain Sir Tom Moore and raise funds for there Buddy Up programme.
They are looking for people to take on a challenge that is based around the number 100, and do it anytime and anywhere over Captain Tom’s birthday weekend, starting on Friday 30th April, which would have been Captain Tom’s 101st birthday, and running through to the Bank Holiday on Monday 3rd May.
This could be running 100 metres, scoring 100 goals, baking 100 cakes, building 100 sandcastles, telling 100 jokes, flipping 100 pancakes – anything at all, inside or outside! – whilst celebrating Captain Tom’s generosity of spirit, the hope and joy he brought to millions, and his sense of fun.
They are looking to raise £5,000 from the weekend which will go towards the Buddy Up programme for young people with additional needs aged 7 to 18, and who are at risk of becoming socially isolated, to help them boost their independence skills, develop their resilience, and enhance their emotional wellbeing, which has been significantly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
